Data deletion
Delete your data
Softly Noted keeps your journal on your device. Here is how to remove it, how to remove the sync copy if you created one, and how to cancel your subscription.
Delete data on your device
Most of what Softly Noted holds is local to your phone. You have three options:
- Delete individual items: remove a check-in, a note, or a photo from inside the app.
- Delete local journal data: use this control in the app's settings to remove everything the app stores locally, including the photos copied into its private storage.
- Delete the app: removing Softly Noted removes its private app storage from the device.
Deleting is permanent. Your journal is encrypted with a key held on this device. Local data and that key may be unrecoverable once removed. Create an encrypted backup first if you might want your history later, and keep the backup password, because the backup cannot be opened without it.
Delete your sync account
Sync is optional. If you never turned it on, there is no account and nothing to delete. You can stop here.
If you did enable it, open Settings → Sync in the app. Delete synced copies removes the service copy of your encrypted journal records. Delete sync account removes your account with the sync provider, and there is an option to delete across all JPott Studios apps that share it.
If an option described here is not visible in your app, that feature is not enabled in your version and there is no account to delete.
What deletion does not do
Deleting the app or your sync account does not cancel your subscription. Softly Noted Premium is a monthly or yearly subscription, and it keeps renewing until you cancel it through your App Store or Google Play account. Cancel there first, then delete. If you want a refund, request it from Apple or Google, who decide under their own policies.
Deletion also does not reach:
- Backups and reports you exported yourself. Once you saved an encrypted backup, PDF, or CSV to Files, email, or cloud storage, only you can delete it from there.
- Operating-system backups. iCloud or Android device backups are controlled by you and your platform.
- Purchase records. Apple, Google, and RevenueCat keep their own transaction records under their policies.
If you need help
If you cannot reach the in-app controls. For example you no longer have the device, email jpottstudios@gmail.com and describe what you need removed. Do not include journal entries or passwords in the email.
Note that journal records are encrypted on your device before upload, so the sync service cannot read their contents; deletion removes the stored records rather than decrypting them. Your photo files are never part of that upload, they only ever exist on your device and in any backup you made yourself.
